IGA Launceston City Community Christmas

IGA Launceston City Community Christmas

The Launceston City Community Christmas is now a renowned city-wide Christmas lunch for anyone in our community looking for some community spirit and support on Christmas day. The event is hosted by Launceston City Mission, St Vincent de Paul Society Tasmania, CatholicCare, The Salvation Army Launceston, Launceston Benevolent Society, and supported by the City of Launceston and IGA.

This day is a key event for many in our community who are socially isolated, feel disconnected or lonely, particularly at Christmas time. It also provides an important opportunity for our five key charitable organisations to come together and undertake a collaborative event for our community. The event attracts broad scale community support through volunteer engagement and through the generous donations of community members and businesses.

The Charitable organisations, the Launceston City Council and Community in general now see the Launceston City Community Christmas as a critical part of Christmas in Launceston. To maintain, improve and grow the event we seek to partner with those in our community who  know the importance bringing people together in joyful celebration.

  • “First time in 7 years that we have celebrated Christmas with people. Thank you for a great event.”

  • “To be a part of the community Christmas, and to share the Christmas spirit during financially hard times. Merry Christmas and thank you to all who came together and put this day together. Thank you!”

  • “My husband and I love this event as we would normally be on our own for Christmas.”

  • “Best experience so far! As we are far away from our families back home in the Solomon Islands, we are very happy to come and celebrate this Christmas with the community, brings us close to home. Thank you very much and a very merry Christmas.”

  • “My wife and I love this event and try to attend most years as our children & grandchildren live interstate.”

  • “As we don't have any family members here to celebrate Christmas, I and my son attend this party. Fantastic.”
